HOW TO SPOT A FAKE COACH BAG
It is getting increasingly difficult to spot fake Coach bags as replicas are becoming more and more sophisticated, but here are just some of the things to look for:
The signature C on the Coach bag should always be absolutely straight – vertically and horizontally, even where they join at the seams. If they don’t line up, this is a sure sign that it is a fake.
The stitching is always very neat with small stitches, their workmanship is of the highest quality. If the stitching is uneven or untidy with cotton threads hanging, then again you should avoid if you don’t want a fake Coach bag.
Coach always use the highest quality zippers. They will always have the letters YKK embossed into them. The letters can be quite small and difficult to see but nevertheless they will always be there if it is genuine.
The Coach logo is stamped on most of the metal hardware – although the older classic styles do not have the stamp. The word Coach is stamped into the metal and is outlined. The letters forming the word Coach should be short and wide – not tall skinny letters. If the bag has O rings, they will be continuous circles and are made very well with no open ends. If the strap has a key ring, it will be the same color and size as the O ring. The real Coach hardware are made of actual brass or other heavy duty metal – never plated like the fake ones.
The inside emblem tags are getting even more difficult to spot, as the fake ones are taking actual imprinted tags and copying them exactly. The leather on the emblem should always be the same as the bag. The letters on the emblem should have no spaces between them, if there are spaces between the letters and numbers, then again, it is a fake.
The lining on the inside of a Coach bag is again of the highest quality, and is made from good quality satin. If the bag you are looking at has the CC on the outside, then the lining will not have it. Alternatively if the outside does not have the CC on it, then more than likely the inside will, although sometimes neither the inside, or the outside will have the CC pattern.
Coach is made here in the US, but they also have them manufactured in
China . If however, you see one that is made in either
Korea or
Thailand , then this should be a red flag.
When bidding on an eBay auction, the main thing would be to check out the sellers ID. Sellers with a high volume of transactions and high percentage of positive feedback would probably be a safe bet. Sellers with a low volume of transactions with a high percentage of negative feedback would probably be best avoided. Of course, anyone can get unlucky and receive a negative feedback from someone who was a bit hasty, but generally high positive feedbacks are a good source when checking out the seller.
Check for good pictures, usually blurry pictures are not a good sign. A genuine bag would have good pictures as the seller would be happy for you to see the authenticity.
Like I said earlier, it can be difficult to spot a fake Coach bag, but the rule of thumb is ‘If it looks too good to be true, then it usually is’.
So please take care when buying your Coach bag.
Wishing you happy shopping!!
